Whether you are using tomatoes in a sauce or soup, this is a quick, handy, basic technique to peel tomatoes without fuss.
Ingredients
- 4 tomatoes
- water, for boiling
- cold water
- ice
Directions
Preparation
- In a saucepan, bring enough water to cover tomatoes to boil
- Fill a bowl with cold water with some ice
Steps
- Using a paring knife, score ‘X’ on the bottom of the tomatoes
- Slowly lower the tomatoes in to the boiling water. Boil for 1 min
- Using a slotted spoon, move the tomatoes to the ice water bowl to stop cooking for a minute or so
- Peel. Skin should come right off
